Introduction to Africa
A collection of stories about my years of overland travel, holidays and short breaks, around the world.
A story about my overland trip from London to Johannesburg, the layover in Southern Africa, and back to London.

Hello, and welcome, especially if you jumped straight into this part of my travelogue.
So far I have only been to Africa once. It was my final and longest trip with Encounter Overland.
In Encounter overland terms it was in fact two trips. The first being London to Johannesburg and the second the return journey from Johannesburg to London. Each leg was meant to be 16 weeks, and that is what the passengers had paid for. There was also a layover period in Southern Africa for me.
I hope you enjoy it and find the information or photo you were looking for. The easiest way to achieve this may be to use the search provided by Google.
From the map you will have noticed, I expect, that in addition to the routes marked on the land mass there are two small markers in the ocean. These are to be found in the Indian Ocean section. However, they are in the list below as well, for ease of reference.
